Sam Houston Jones 88, of 107 East Taylor Street, died Wednesday November 14, 2012 at Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehab Center in Snow Hill. He was born on February 8, 1924 to the late Alexander and Jessie Irene Roach Jones and was predeceased by two brothers, Wilburn and Milton Jones. Sam was a retired Engineman 2nd Class in the US Navy and a member of Hamilton Baptist Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday November 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Hamilton Cemetery with military rites.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Coleman Jones of the home; daughters, Margaret Norman of Newmarket, AL, Laura Ann VanWagener and Reba Elisa Howard both of Ayden; sons, Sam H. Jones, Jr. of Morganfield, KY and Walter Dail of Ayden; sister, Carrie Beatty of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Friday November 16th at the Hamilton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and at other times from the home. Memorial gifts may be made to Hamilton EMS, PO Box 249, Hamilton, NC 27840.
