William Mayo Howell, 84 of Ridgewood Dr., died Monday November 30, 2020 at his home.

Mayo was born on April 1, 1936 in Martin County to the late Roland Mayo and Elsie Harrison Howell. Mayo graduated from Robersonville High School in 1954. On October 18, 1957 he married Martha Edmondson and they were married for 63 years. Mayo worked for 57 years as a Funeral Director for Biggs Funeral Home. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Edward Howell, Marvin Eugene Howell, James Earl "Bird" Howell and Douglas Macarthur Howell.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Edmondson Howell of the home; son, Jerry Alan Howell and wife Fannie of Williamston; sister, Jean Howell Waters of Pinetown; grandchildren, Matt Howell and wife Candice of Greenville, Zach Howell and wife Harley of Greenville and Adeline Howell of Charlotte; great grandchild, Maddox Howell and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Tripp and Rev. Bobby Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home and other times from the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 24347 NC-125, Williamston, NC 27892.
