Dateline: Williamston, NC

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wesley "Shaun" Cratt, age 44, of Cratt Road, Williamston who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon June 23, 2026.

Shaun was born on December 17, 1981, in Washington, NC, to Lucy Harrison and the late Wesley Dale Cratt. He spent his entire life in Martin County and was a proud member of Sweet Home Church.

Shaun dedicated to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, where he worked his way through the ranks and earned the position of Sergeant. He was respected by his fellow deputies, valued by his community, and took great pride  in serving and protecting the citizens of Martin County.

Outside of work , Shaun lived life with a full throttle and a smile. If it had four wheels, it better have been a Ford and it absolutely had to be four-wheel drive. He loved riding side-by-sides, off-roading, and spending time outdoors. On weekends, you could find him putting on his cowboy hat and boots,rolling down the windows, putting a Ford in the wind, and heading out to honky-tonkin'.He loved real country music, neon lights, good company, and making memories with friends and family.

Some of Shaun's happiest moments were spent with his little cousins, Ryder and Ryker. He loved taking them for ice cream and pizza on his days off, and many of those adventures ended with laughs and splashing around at the pool. The boys brought him tremendous joy, and the memories they shared will be treasured forever.

In recent years, Shaun became deeply involved in helping John Cratt and Tierra build Car Keys of ENC. He was excited about the future of the business and took pride in helping it grow. His encouragement, hard work, and belief in what the business could  become will never be forgotten.

Above all else, Shaun loved his family. He leaves behind his beloved daughter Mercedes Brielle Harmon; his sisters, Brandy Nicole Phelps(Scott) and Cailtin Bailey Cratt (Jon); his mother, Lucy Harrison; his nieces and nephews, Kaydence, Wesley, Holly, and Jace, who knew they needed advice, a helping hand, a ride, or simply someone to listen, he was always there; numerous cousins, extended family members, friends, fellow deputies, and countless lives he touched throughout the years.

Shaun was known for his loyalty, his sense of humor, his willingness to help others, and his love for family and friends. Whether he was wearing a badge, turning a wrench, riding trails or spending time with those  he loved, he lived life his own way and left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those he loved forever.

"And Shaun is on the roads to heaven with the windows down, country music playing and a Ford pointing to the horizon."

The Family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM at Rose of Sharon Orginal Free Will Baptist Church with the service following at 4:00 PM. Pastor Clifford Britton will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Cratt Cemetery with the following serving as pallbeares:Micheal Leggett, Steven Edwards, Justin Harrison, Reid Harrison, Dylan Harrison, Hot Rod, Greg Knox, and Justin Barr.
