Viola Cox  Allen, age 99, died Friday, July 24, 2026, at Edgecombe Health Center in Tarboro with her family by her side.  Ms. Allen was born on February 11, 1927, in Martin County to the late Frank Cox and Vickie Norris Cox.  Viola was also predeceased by her husband Garlan Boggs who died in 1946; her daughter, Sylvia Raynor; two brothers, Leroy and Alfonzo Cox; sister, Lillian Sawyer and a grandson, Garlan Boggs.

Ms. Viola retired from West point Pepperell as a clothing inspector, she was a member of The First Freewill Baptist Church of Williamston, and a past member of the Gold Point Ruritans. Ms. Allen enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Martin County Quilters of NC, she also loved working in her flower's year around. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Garlan Gene Boggs (Betty); grandchildren, Vickie Miller, Allen Raynor, and Gary Boggs; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home-Chapel with Pastor Brian Perry and Pastor Chris Haddock officiating the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times from the home of Gene and Betty Boggs on Spring Green Road in Williamston.  The Burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens with following serving as pallbearers: Allen Raynor, Gary Boggs, Tom Miller, Spencer Walston, Logan Hessert, Perry Byrum and Christopher Donnee
