Obituary

Thomas Grant Dunlow, lovingly known as Tommy, passed away on November 3, 2026, at UNC-Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his family around him. He was born on March 4, 1969, in Bertie County, North Carolina.

Tommy will be remembered as a man of many talents and a generous heart. He worked for the City of Greenville as a building inspector and was a licensed electrician, known by many as a true jack of all trades. Whether he was fixing, building, helping, or creating, he brought skill and care to all he did. He was also an excellent cook and entertainer, someone who knew how to make others feel welcome and at ease. Tommy was always ready to lend a hand to help the community and never had a negative word to say about anything or anybody. His kindness, steady presence, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Nothing meant more to Tommy than time spent with those he loved. He especially loved being with his wife, Audrey Diane White Dunlow, affectionately known as Sissie, and with Gage, and he enjoyed working on the pull trucks with Bailee. Those moments of togetherness reflected the joy he found in family, shared interests, and the simple blessings of everyday life.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Diane White Dunlow, "Sissie" of the home; his daughter, Bailee Dunlow of the home; and his son, Gage Cooke of Windsor. He is also survived by his mother, Rachel Cullipher Pierce and Johnny of Windsor; his sister, Tammy Snow and Gary of Windsor; and Larry Scott Dunlow of Windsor. Tommy also leaves his mother-in-law, Betty T. White; his brother-in-law, Barry White; his aunts, Louise Cooke, Peggy Godwin, Pam Piotrowski, Gertie Cullipher, and Wanda Cullipher; his uncles, Ronald Cullipher, Donald Cullipher, Lenny Piotrowski, and Randy Godwin; and his nephew and nieces, Christopher Scott Dunlow, Hayleigh Dunlow, and Hannah White. Each of them shared in the love of his life and will carry his memory forward with deep affection.

Memorial gifts can be made in Tommy's memory to the SECU Family house: 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC, 27517 and/or to the NC Jaycee Burn Center at Chapel Hill: https://give.unc.edu/give/mfbc.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Thomas “Pete” Dunlow; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Idonia Cullipher; and his paternal grandparents, Grant and Jean Dunlow.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M. at Walker Funeral Home-Windsor, 236 US 17 Bypass, Windsor, North Carolina 27983.
