Sylvia Bundy Brooks, age 80, of Windsor passed away at ECU Medical Center in Greenville on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Sylvia was born in Elizabeth City on July 31, 1945 to Oscar Linwood Bundy and Mildred Jennings Bundy. Sylvia married the love of her life Thomas Alton Brooks, Sr. on November 23, 1963 and they have been by each other's side ever since. She worked as Chief Program Assistant for US Consolidated Farm Service Agency until she retired in 2001. Sylvia had a great love for music and incorporated that love into every facet of her life. She served as Music Director at Cashie Baptist Church for over 30 years and Macedonia Baptist Church for over 15 years. She also led an all men's choir and was also a founding member of a fellowship quartet.

Sylvia was predeceased in death by her parents, by a brother, Richard Bundy and a sister, Jackie Jackson.

Sylvia is survived in addition to her husband by sons, John Linwood Brooks of Windsor, Thomas Alton Brooks, Jr. of Windsor; daughter, Priscilla Brooks Chittum of Wilmington; sister, Phyllis Peele of Pinetown, 9 grandchildren and 4 great greatgrandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Cashie Baptist Church with Reverend Stafford Beasley officiating and the choir providing music. The family will receive friends briefly following the service in the church foyer.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cashie Baptist Church in her memory, 221 S Queen Street, Windsor, NC 27983.
