Stanley Lewis Thompson was born February 10, 1958 and passed on to heaven on July 30, 2021 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.  He was 63 years old.

Stanley Lewis Thompson, son of the late Harry Lewis and Loretta Thompson was born in Windsor, N.C. on February 10, 1958.  He is survived by his sisters, Pat Taylor (husband, Frank Taylor) and JeNell Dilday (husband, Kelly Dilday) and his brother, Vic Thompson (wife, Nancy). Stanley graduated from Roanoke Chowan Academy in 1976.  He worked for his family at Thompson and Company, then for R. J. Reynolds in Merry Hill, N.C. (better known as Avoca) and finally was a self-employed farmer and small business owner for 28 years. He was a devoted member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Windsor, NC for 23 years.

Stanley had a passion for solving challenging problems which fueled his love for his work.  He had many talents and used them not only to provide for his family but to also express his generosity to others.  It was understood by those close to him that a primary way he showed his love for others was through working to provide and help.  He loved to work.  Stanley will forever be deeply cherished in the lives of the loved ones he leaves behind including his wife of 36 years, Sharon Lilley Thompson, and three children; his daughter, Sarah Thompson Tyson (husband, Matt Tyson), and his sons, Clint Thompson (wife, Roxie), and Robert Thompson (wife, Maggie), and grandchildren, Walter and Fitz, and was looking forward to meeting another grandson, expected in December of this year.  Stanley is also survived by a large loving family including many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who he loved very much.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 1 at 3:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor, NC. The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral home after the memorial service and at other times in the home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to The Windsor Volunteer Fire Department in Windsor, N.C. or Baptist On Mission (formerly NC Baptist Men's Disaster Relief) P. O. Box 1107, Cary NC  27512.
