Sophie Hoggard White, 75, of W. Askewville Street, died Sunday, January, 5, 2020 at her home. She was born in Bertie County January 17, 1944 to the late Arthur Dennis and Bertha Bryant Hoggard and was predeceased by her husband George Hillary White; sister, Ruby Glen Hoggard, Miriam Sullivan, Idonia Cullipher, Dora Crisco; brothers, Sherman, Eugene, Robert L., Jim, Cedric Earl, Joseph, John Everette, Alfred, and Raymond Hoggard. Sophie was a member of Askewville Assembly of God and retired from the Bertie County School system. She was also a hairdresser.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Askewville Assembly of God. Rev. R. O. Denton, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Johnson of Windsor, grandchildren, Allen Johnson wife Leslie and Crystal Johnson; great grandchild, Taden Prezell; sister, Hilda H. Harden of Aulander.
