Sidney Gene Copeland, Sr. 88, of Powell Avenue, passed away March 15, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Bertie County to the late William Roger and Edna Earl White Copeland and was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Taylor Copeland; brothers, Billy, Carson and Darden Copeland.  Sid was a member of the Capehart's Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  He was the former owner of Pine Ridge Country Store. He served his country in the Army National Guard, A farmer by profession, Sid loved farming and was very passionate about growing tobacco.  Sid was a former semi-pro baseball player as well as the coach and manager. He was a member of the Veterans Club in Windsor. He was an avid golfer (excellent player) and competed on the eastern Senior tour for several years.  When not farming or golfing, Sid could by found hunting or fishing.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 17, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Capehart's Baptist Church,  The family will receive friends March 17 ^th from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM at Capehart's Baptist Church,

Survivors include his sons, Sidney Gene Copeland, Jr and his wife, Kristana Spencer Copeland of Windsor; Kirkland Blair Copeland and his wife, Lynn Hardison Copeland of Greenville; sisters, Melba Copeland Cobb (Robert Braxton Cobb) of Merry Hill and Paige Copeland Myers of White's Cross; grandchildren, Sidney Gene Copeland, III,  William Spencer Copeland and wife, Christen Belch Copeland, Anna Grace Copeland, Kirkland Blair Copeland, Jr.
