Shirley Moore Thomas, 80  a resident of Ahoskie passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Three Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Windsor. Shirley was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 25, 1944, to Warner Robert and Shirley Simmons Moore. She was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed crafts. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, her husband Ashley Warton Thomas; a son, John Ashley Thomas; a brother, Charles Robert Moore; and a sister Norma Jane Ferguson.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Jeannie Jernigan (Tim) of Windsor, Rachel Askew of Ahoskie, Rebecca Morris (Wilbert) of Kelford; daughter in law, Terry Thomas of Canton; grandchildren, Cliff Jernigan, Ashley Jernigan, Kim Jernigan, Erin Bunting, Christy Eure, Caitlyn Thomas, Thomas Askew, Lynn Ellis, Ashton Thomas, Reno Thomas, Diana Damon, Dara Barnes, Christine, Megan McClelland; and 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Walker Funeral Home, chapel in Windsor on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Ange officiating, music will be provided by Doug Bazemore. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery. Ronald Eure, Jacob Ellis, Thomas Askew, Tim Jernigan, Cliff Jernigan and Reno Thomas will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at 1PM prior to the service at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Christy and Ronnie.
