Sara Ann Jernigan Rhodes, born on September 1, 1942, in Colerain, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in Mechanicsville, Virginia, on January 13, 2025.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Butler Rhodes; her parents, Edith and Lloyd Jernigan; her sister, Mary Jernigan; and her brother, Lloyd Carl (LC) Jernigan. She is survived by her sister, Elner Snell; her children, Kathryn Bremner (David), Dianne Melia (Ken), and Bradley Rhodes; her grandchildren, Elise Melia, Andrew Bremner, and Lauren Bremner; and many nieces and nephews, including Jan Farmer (Jerry), with whom Ann spoke daily.
Ann lived in Waynesboro, Virginia, for 46 years where she could often be found working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church, with her faith serving as a constant foundation throughout her life.
Ann's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Vanessa Sadler, Doris de Soto, and Christie August for their unwavering friendship, love, and care over the past eight months.
She will be laid to rest with her family at a private graveside ceremony in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor, North Carolina.
