Obituary

Mr. Rufus "Boogie" Edwin Corey, 78, of Nathan Roberson Road in the Farmlife Community of Williamston passed away Wednesday October 8, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville.

Graveside funeral services will be held with Military Honors on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Tice Cemetery in the Farmlife Community, with Pastor Roger Leggett officiating. Brandon Radford, Mitchell Reason, Bruce Peele Jr., Eric Vibbert, Eusebio Escamilla, and Gary Griffin will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends following the service at the gravesite and other times at the home.

Boogie was born on April 30,1947 to Rufus Lee Corey and Lessie Maebell Modlin Corey in Williamston. He joined the US Army in December 1969 and later married the love of his life Sylvia "Sibbie" Rogers Corey on April 11, 1970. They were married for 55 years. Boogie began his career as a carpenter building homes and later  worked for seventeen years for the Robersonville Housing Authority as a maintenance director. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having breakfast at the Shamrock Restaurant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Jannette Carman, and brother-in-law, Phillip N. Reason.

Survivors in addition to his wife Sylvia Rogers Corey, are one son, Rodney E. Corey (Beverly) of Williamston; three grandchildren: Brandon Radford (Heather), Jamie Radford Webb (Scotty) and Mary Beth Corey; three great grandchildren: Brady Radford, Owen Radford, and Anna Grace Webb; and one sister, Mary Lee Corey Reason of Jamesville.
