Rudy Lane Waters, age 77, a resident of 54 Long Ridge Road, Pinetown, peacefully joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 8, 2020.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Five Points FWB Church, followed by funeral services at 2PM with Rev. David Young and Rev. Joseph Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, NC. Paul Boyd, Neal Boyd, Larry Boyd, Wade Biggs, Thomas Biggs, and John Windley will serve as pallbearers.

Rudy had been in declining health for a number of years, and more recently was under the care of Community Home Hospice.

Rudy was born in Beaufort County on January 20, 1943 son of the late James Elmer and Cottie Boyd Waters. He graduated from Bath High School, Chowan College and NC State University. He was employed at the Naval Shipyard in New Port News, VA and several years at Texas Gulf in Aurora, He later taught in the public schools in Wake, Beaufort, and Martin Counties. He retired from the Martin County Schools on January 1, 1997. He was a member of Five Points FWB Church where he previously served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, he was member of the NRA and a former fireman with the Pinetown Fire Department. Rudy loved to hunt, fish, and tend is garden. He was a great auto mechanic who could take a car apart piece by piece and put it all back together, he loved to read and loved to travel. One of his passions was to help someone in need. Rudy dearly loved all his nieces and nephews. He spent a lot of time with them, involving them in his life of fun and adventure. He married the love of his life Jean Howell Waters on August 6, 1983, who survives.

Surviving along with his wife Jean of the home, is one brother, Steve Waters and wife Barbara of Morehead; nephews, James Waters and wife Jessica of Chocowinity, David Waters of Washington, Casey Waters of Florida, Tracey Waters and wife Donna of Cary, Don Howell and wife Princess of Alabama, Jerry Howell and wife Fannie , Lavern Howell and Chris Howell all of Williamston and Roland Howell of Tennessee; nieces, Elaine Cox and husband Eddie of Alabama, Rene Dixon and husband Jonathan of New Bern, Jackie Andrews of Williamston, Joanna Kilcoyne of Georgia and Rebecca Scott and husband Jason of Mebane; brother in law Mayo Howell and wife Martha of Williamston, and a host of cousins whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Carlton Eugene Waters in 1992 and Elmer Allen Waters in 2018.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers from Community Home Hospice, especially Velva Thompson and Kim Trejo, and to his family and many friends who visited him during his illness.
