Mr. Richard Lee Nichols, age 73, a resident of Ola Roberson Rd. Williamston, passed away Friday, October, 13, 2023 at ECU Beaufort Hospital.

Richard was born on June 23,1950 in Bertie County to the late Calhoon and Mary Jane Ward Nichols. He worked in logging with Weyerhaeuser. Richard was a veteran and served during Vietnam in the US Marine Corp receiving a Purple Heart. He also served in The NC National Guard. He was a member of Community Christian Church. Richard loved his family, and loved to fish and hunt, he just loved the outdoors.

Survivors include; wife, Florence Holliday Nichols of the home; son, Richard Lee Nichols, Jr. of Williamston; daughters, Tammy Lynn Harrell (Preston) of Williamston and Betty Ann Langley (Toby) of Williamston; special bonus daughter, Stacy Riley; grandchildren, Jonathan Harrell, Benjamin Harrell, Shay Langley and Colin Langley; great grandchildren, Kenneth Gardner, Noah Harrell and Daken Harrell.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Community Christian Church with Reverend Chris Sanford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and other times at 2780 Cratt Rd., Williamston, NC.
