Rhoda Chase Thomas Asbell, 84 of Lake Royale, died Friday, April 8, 2022, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Mrs. Asbell was born on December 4, 1937, in Bertie County to the late Coleman and Marion Isabella Lawrence Thomas. She was retired from the US Government as an administrative assistant with the US Embassy's. She attended Greens Cross Baptist Church. Rhoda was an avid book collector and loved to travel the world. She was preceded in death by a brother, Coleman Thomas.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl DeBardelaben (Dean) of Holly Springs; son, G. Vincent Asbell of Louisburg; grandchildren, Mitchell DeBardelaben of Raleigh, and R. Nicole DeBardelaben (Chase Bowen) of Fuquay Varina.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Edgewood Cemetery with Rev. Ed Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
