Raymond Sylvester Silverthorne, 89 of Harris St., died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the NC State Veterans Home in Kinston.

Raymond was born on September 18, 1931 in Martin County to the late George and Effie Coltrain Silverthorne. He was retired from Martin County Schools as a maintenance worker and had also done automotive body work. Raymond served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Macedonia Christian Church. He loved his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Lorraine Silverthorne and grandson Tyler John Lennon.

Survivors include; son, Troy L. Silverthorne (Joyce) of Williamston; daughters, Priscilla Gurganus of Ayden and Christy Lennon (John) of Greenville; brother, Irvin "Skeebo" Silverthorne (Fernon) of Williamston; sisters, Mary Modlin (Bobby Joe) of Jamesville and Jean Lewis of Vanceboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Pamela Manning, Stephen Silverthorne, Hannah Silverthorne, Emily Lennon Lopez and Allison Lennon; great grandchildren, Ryan White, Caila Jones, Karlee Waters, Natalie Manning, Nathan Manning, Nolan Manning and Brayden Silverthorne; great great grandchildren, Lila Grace White.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors, on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Greg Sexton, Rev. Dallas Gurganus and Rev. Roger Leggett officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and other times from the home.
