Ray McDonald "Don" Hoggard, 79 of Rosemount, Rocky Mount, NC, died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at UNC-Nash Hospital.

Don was born on January 10, 1942 in Bertie County to the late Grover Scott and Annie Langdale Hoggard. He was a transportation manager with Liberty Transportation. He was a member of Ross Baptist Church. Don loved baseball, his family and extended family. He played in a Maryland softball league in his earlier years. Don was a US Air Force veteran. He married the love of his life, Dot, on July 14, 1962. He was preceded in death by his son, Ray Hoggard, Jr., and brother, Scottie Hoggard.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Burkett Hoggard of the home; son, Michael Wayne Hoggard (Elaine) of Hillsboro, MD; daughter, Shari Newton (Billy) of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Jack Hoggard (Linda) of Windsor; sister, Ann Haislip (Doc) of Windsor; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ross Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Coltrain officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
