Peggy Louise Todd Pierce, known as Louise to some, Peggy or Peg to others, and most importantly as "Grandma Piggy" to her favorites, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2023, at the age of 96.

Peggy Louise was born October 15, 1926, and along with her older siblings, Margaret and Robert, was raised by their mother, Alvania Floyd Todd on her farm in Indian Woods with their beloved horse, Bob. Peggy with her beautiful auburn hair caught the eye of her future husband of 70 years, Cecil Miller Pierce. Together, Cecil and Peggy raised their cherished daughters, Linda, Kay, and Pam.  In addition to raising her 3 loves, Peggy opened her home and heart to several local children as their full-time babysitter. Her 6 grandchildren, Braxton, Cecilia, Paul, Christopher, Lee, and Ryann were the apples of her eye. They will all agree their "Piggy" was the best babysitter and backscratcher ever.  Later in life, her favorite moments were those spent visiting with her great-grandchildren, Pierce, Caroline, Piper, Palmer, Eason and Mary Braxton. Grandma Piggy gave the best hugs  and thought none of the above could do any wrong. Peggy was the perfect mix of selfless and strong willed; her family was always her top priority. With her caretaker's heart, she has taken care of her loved ones her entire life including her mother and Uncle Bob.

Louise is best known around town for her magical orangeades from the Windsor Pharmacy where she worked for several years until it closed. She is still affectionately called "Weezy" by her former co-workers who became lifelong friends.

Peggy's favorite activity was spending time with her family. She particularly loved going on trips with them, especially to the mountains. Her most recent mountain trip was to celebrate her 95th birthday at Tweetsie Railroad and Grandfather Mountain. Her daily rituals included reading the local papers and her word search books, but the highlight was her nightly call with her best friend and niece, Kitty.  Good luck getting through to either of them on the phone between 9 -11 pm every night.  Peggy Louise loved classic country music and the last concert she attended at the age 86 was in the front row to see Loretta Lynn.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Linda Pierce Williford, Pam Pierce Bryant and son-in-law Donnie Bryant, grandchildren Braxton Williford and wife, Mandie, Cecilia Gray and husband, Wes, Paul Williams and wife, Amber, Christopher Williams and wife, Rebecca, Lee Bryant, and Ryann Bryant, and great grandchildren Pierce, Piper, Palmer, Caroline, and Eason Williams and Mary Braxton Gray, and best friend/niece, Kitty Lee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Miller Pierce, her son-in-law, Joseph Williford who she adored, her sweet and wonderful middle daughter, Kay Williams, and her great granddaughter, Raegan Williams.  Her family will miss her unconditional love and hugs (and her country ham and potato salad) but are grateful for her long healthy life and are comforted knowing she is now with those that she has so dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 6th at Walker Funeral Home followed by a graveside burial at Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 pm prior to the funeral.
