Peggy Smithwick White, 87 died Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Vidant Bertie in Windsor. She was born March 2, 1935 to the late Bob & Mattie Smithwick of San Souci.

She was married to Wilton White of Askewville on October 17, 1951. She leaves behind her daughters, Peggy Lynnette White, Dorothy White Taylor, and Susan Lewis; sons, Andy White, Delbert White and wife Helen; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Beth Brown, and Cheryl Hopkins; three sisters-in-law, Jean Miller, Lessie Smithwick and Debbie Smithwick.

Peggy was born and raised in Bertie Co. She helped work with her husband on the farm and raising their five children. She enjoyed many different hobbies including painting, reading, sewing, crafts and playing slot machines. She loved her children and all her many grandchildren very much. Peggy was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church; she always had a smile on her face and a gentle heart.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Chris Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at the home. (508 White Oak Rd.)
