Paul Delano Smith, Sr., 82, of Bear Grass Road went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday July 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Paul was born on September  23, 1942, in Bertie County to the late Della Taylor and Wilber Paul Smith. Paul was predeceased by his son Lester Eugene Smith, a grandchild, Dillon Smith and four brothers: Eugene Smith, Richard Smith, Donald Smith and Calvin Smith.

Paul married the love of his life,  Ann Bland Smith on January 26, 1963. They were married for 62 years. Paul worked for the UPS for 31 & ½ years and retired in February of 1998 and was a faithful member of Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and helping others in need. Paul was a faithful Dollar General shopper who loved giving out coupons daily to those who could use them, and he could spark up a conversation with anyone.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Ann Bland Smith; one son Paul Delano Smith, Jr. and wife Teresa; two daughters: Paula Smith Chambers and husband Jim, and Penny Smith Warren and husband Jeff all of Williamston; eight grandchildren: Trey Smith, Caitlyn Smith, Courtney Harris, Kelly Boyce, Jami Zeller, Alex Chambers, Delaney Warren and Christy Lewis; five great grandchildren: CJ, Rebekah, Penelope, Cherish, Marilyn; three brothers, Tommy Smith of Chocowinity, Norman Smith of Williamston, Sammy (Mousey) Smith and wife (Kathleen) of Grimesland; one sister: Donna Smith Mason of Washington; a special nephew, Danuel Smith and many loved nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will be held Monday, July 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM  to 8:00 PM at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at their home on Bear Grass Road.

A celebration of life for Paul will be held Tuesday July 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church with pastors Chris Watkins and Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow at the Price Family Cemetery.
