Otis Linwood "Bud" Smith, 84, of Askewville passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, unexpectedly at his residence. Bud was born on January 5, 1941, to Otis Linwood Smith, Sr. and Elizabeth Odom Smith. He married Ode Faye Hoggard and later remarried Shirley Bracy Smith. Bud lived in Bertie County his entire life and he loved to fish, hunt and attend car races.

Otis was predeceased by his parents, Ode Faye Hoggard Smith and Shirley Bracy Smith, a son, Linwood O'Neal Smith; and two sisters, Virginia Smith Leggett, and Betty Smith Hoggard.

Otis is survived by a son, Ricky Nelson Smith of Askewville, a daughter -in-law, Leisha Smith of Askewville; a sister, Brenda Rogers of Monroe, NC; and four grandchildren, Nelson Smith, Terrilynn Smith, Brittany Smith and Crystal Etheridge.

A chapel service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home - chapel in Windsor with Pastor Allen Harmon officiating and music being provided by RT Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Doug Bazemore. Serving as Pallbearers are:  Josh Leggett, Nelson Smith, Richard Jones, Steve Askew, Doug Bazemore and Kevin Johnson. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Gerald Leggett. A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,  from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and other times at the home.
