Obie "Wilton" White, 86 died Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Vidant Pitt Hospital in Greenville following a brief illness.

Wilton was born on July 8, 1932 to the late Obie William and Helen Twine White. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Smithwick White who he married October 17, 1957. The Whites were blessed with 67 years of marriage. He leaves behind his daughters Peggy Lynn White (Don Spence, Sr.), Dorothy White Taylor and husband Neal, and Susan Lewis; sons, Andy White and Delbert White and wife, Helen. He is also survived by one sister, Joan Miller; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Wilton was born and raised in Bertie County and remained a lifelong resident of Bertie. He grew up farming and eventually started a saw mill and later started his own logging business. He was an avid hunter who loved fishing, the outdoors and working in his garden.

Wilton was a member and former deacon of Edgewood Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday February 22, 2019, in the Chapel of Walker Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Chris Lee officiating.  A private burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
