Nelson Grey
Buck
Aug 10, 1951 — Mar 6, 2020
Chocowinity
Nelson Grey Buck, age 68, died Friday, March 6, 2020 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville. Mr. Buck was born August 10, 1951 in Beaufort County to the late Guy Lester Buck and Jessie Mae Hill Buck. He attended Chocowinity schools and was a self-employed auto mechanic, and auto body repairman until his health no longer permitted. Nelson loved auto racing and spending time with his family. On March 26, 2001, he married the former Mary Galloway, who survives him.
In addition to his parents, Nelson was predeceased by brothers, Terry Lee Buck, Guy Elwood Buck, and sister Shirley Mae Buck. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, Nelson Buck Jr. of Chocowinity; daughters, Melissa Buck Puryear (Wesley) of Beulaville, and Robin G. Henry (Thomas) of Trinidad, Colorado; granddaughters, Sara Brame of Chapel Hill, Caitlin P. Mills (Tyler) of Beulaville, Courtney Puryear of Beulaville, and Hayley Timms of Trinidad, Colorado; and three brothers, Ronald Buck (Debbie) of Clayton, Mark Buck of Chocowinity, and Tony Buck of Pine Hall. He also leaves behind his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Roxy.
Mr. Buck was a one of a kind individual. He could be tough and quick-tempered, but he was also affectionate and loving. He played many roles: for Mary Buck, he was the love of her life; to his son and daughters, he was an imperfect father who always tried his best; to his granddaughter Sara, he was "Pops," the best father figure and supporter anyone could ask for; and to his brothers and friends, he was often a source of both knowledge and exasperation. Mr. Buck, his very detailed stories, and his vast knowledge of automotives, will be dearly missed by friends and family alike.
The family will be meeting at the Chocowinity Community Building on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Walker Funeral Home of Williamston is serving the Buck family.
