Dateline: Roper, NC

Ms. Mildred Spruill Griffin Wright 102, of Roper passed away peacefully at Three Rivers Nursing Home and Rehab and she lived to be the oldest member of the Spruill family. Mildred was born on July 16, 1923 to Walter and Velma Phelps Spruill in Mackey's, NC. She attended Roper High School where she graduated with her diploma. She was a member at Holly Neck Church of Christ and she enjoyed gardening, the color pink, crossword puzzles and was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Mildred was a very good cook and some of her recipes have been passed down through her family, she could remember anyone's name and date of birth even if she had only met them a couple of times and she also could speak French.

Mildred is predeceased in addition to her parents by her first husband, Jesse Griffin; her second husband, Robert Wright; a daughter, Donna Allen; brothers, Marvin Spruill, Walter Spruill, Bobby Spruill; and sisters, Hazel Terocha, Patrica Davis and Joyce Spruill.

She is survived by sons, Mike Griffin of Roper, Jesse Griffin Jr. of Jamesville, Robby Wright of Mackeys; daughter, Patrice Richards (Frank) of Suffolk VA;  brothers, Raymond Spruill of Roper, Jimmy Spruill of Beaufort (Deborah), Phillip Spruill of Moyock (Marie), 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for family and friends.
