Dateline- Colerain

McCoy Mizelle, 82, of Colerain passed away Friday, May 30, 2025. McCoy was born in Bertie County on December 9, 1942 to the late Cecil and Pauline Mizelle. McCoy married Joy Bryant on April 3, 2002 and were together for over 23 years. He worked as a Lineman and a Farmer until he retired. He attended Bethany Baptist Church and he enjoyed carpentry, farming and gardening.

McCoy is survived by his wife Joy Mizelle of Colerain; daughters, Tracy Mooring (John) of Rocky Mount: step daughters, Elizabeth Pierce of Colerain, Allie Wirth (Charles) of Colerain: a brother, Harold Mizelle (Catherine) of Winterville: grandchildren, Caroline Mooring, Callie Mooring, Michael Pierce and Luke Pierce.

A funeral service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Tommy Tripp and music will be provided by Donna Morris on the piano and Connie and Rita Mizelle singing. Pallbearers will be Charles Wirth, John Mooring, Danny White, Faron Mizelle, Donnie Evans, Ricky Hoggard and serving as honorary pallbearers is Michael Pierce and Luke Pierce. Internment to follow at Highland Memorial in Ahoskie with Military Honors. The family will receive friends following the interment and other times at the home.
