Mattie Pitt Pierce, 79 of E. River St., died peacefully Sunday June 12, 2022 at her home.

Mrs. Pierce was born in Greensville County, VA, on July 1, 1942 to the late Hugh Bryant and Jennie Hodges Lassiter Pitt. She was homemaker and a member of Colerain Baptist Church and helped her husband with farming and worked at Lazy Hill Farm Designs. Mattie enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Fleetwood Pierce, sisters, Ann Hodges Ward, and Pauline Pitt Morris.

Survivors include; daughters, Pam Pierce and Wendy Pearce (Ritchie) both of Farmville, Cheryl Jernigan of Ahoskie; Son, Woody Pierce (Mary) of Windsor; three grandchildren; Blair Pearce Covington, A1C Bryant Pierce and Gavin Pierce; brother, Lawrence Pitt of VA. Also loved by many family members and cherished friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Gary Saffell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home and at the graveside service.
