Mary Charles Sheppard Cherry, 69 of W. Main St., died Monday March 13, 2023 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

Mary was born on June 14, 1953, in Martin County, to the late Charles Mason and Magdalene Taylor Sheppard.

She worked as a CNA in healthcare for 23 years. Mary was a member of Williamston First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a part of women's ministry, choir member, served in the nursery and was a GEM's instructor. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Cherry and a daughter, Jessica Dell Cherry; sister, Dolly Donaldson and brother, Tom Sheppard and sister-in-law, Patricia Sheppard.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Davenport (Guilford) of Windsor; son, Charles Cherry (Dorothy) of Williamston; brother, Andy Sheppard (Karen) of Prince George, VA; sisters, Donna Williams (Keith) of Windsor, Greta Manning (William) of Williamston and Cindy Edmondson (Ronnie) of Williamston; grandchildren, Logan Drake Davenport, Lucas Dale Davenport, Jake Howard, Jasmine Howard and Delaney Faith Warren; great grandchildren, Cherish and Penelope Warren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Williamston First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the church and other times at the home of William and Greta Manning, 1630 Yarrell Creek Rd., Williamston NC.
