Mary Jo Purser Mills, age 86, of New Bern, NC peacefully passed away on March 28, 2024. She was born May 28, 1937, in Vanceboro NC to the late Charlie Blount and Mary Jane Buck Purser.

Mary Jo was a dedicated home maker, devoting her life to caring for her family.  She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Marvin Mills, daughter Pamela Hoke (John) of Greenville, NC, son Jeffrey Mills of New Bern, daughter Wendy Wagner (Richard) of Bluffton, SC and her beloved grandchildren Matthew Wagner and Kaylee Wagner of Bluffton, SC.  She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Vera Elizabeth Purser Toler and brothers James Edward Purser, Garland Purser, Travis Purser, Charlie Purser, and Donald Ray Purser.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary Jo's life is planned for April 20th at 11:00 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Bern, NC where she was a member for over 60 years. A reception will be held following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Tabernacle Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Mary Jo will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she loved.
