Mary Alice Holder White, 89, a resident of Ahoskie House and formerly of Askewville, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024. She was born in Bertie County January 14, 1935, to the late Paul Vernon and Harriet Askew Holder and was predeceased by her husband, Wave White; sisters, Kay Holder Alston, Carolyn Holder Scott; and brother, Clarence J. Holder. Mary Alice loved to knit, make baskets and quilts. She worked part time at Bertie Schools and Harrison Grocery making Coon Dog Sausage.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Askewville Baptist Church. The Rev Zack Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday at the church and from the home of Rhonda and Jay McClenney, 202 Ashland Church Road, Merry Hill, NC 27957.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda White McClenney and husband Wilbert "Jay" of Merry Hill; brother, Paul Vernon Holder of SC; grandchildren, Bryce McClenney (Jessica) of Cary, Holden McClenney (Brittany) of Windsor; great grandchildren, Henry, Charlotte, Rhett, and Lucy McClenney.
