Mary Clyde Whitehurst Peaks, 86, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mary, a native and lifetime resident of Martin county, was born on March 2, 1933 to the late Norman and Mary Jane Bowen. She was employed at Beaunit for 10 years and later at Eagle Snacks for 10 years. Mary was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church.

For Many Years, Mary took pride in gardening, whether it was vegetables or flowers, and enjoyed sharing her produce with others. She had compassion for those in need and often extended a helping hand in various ways. Mary loved her family and friends. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by husbands Thomas Whitehurst and Bobby Peaks, sister Ella Faye Bowen and brother Cecil Bowen.

Survivors include; son, Ray Whitehurst of Williamston; grandson, Christopher Whitehurst of Williamston; sister, Joyce Warren of Hampton, Va.; sister in law, Mary Dare Bowen of Williamston; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Williamston, Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
