Martha Matthews Mizelle 80, of US 13 North, passed away at her home, Sunday, September 10, 2023.  She was born in Bertie County, February 27, 1943, to the late, Daisy Broglin and Henry Clinton Matthews, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lindsey Mizelle, Sr.; sisters, Jessie Cobb, Dessie White; brothers, Billy and Claudie Matthews.

Martha was a member of Askewville Baptist Church and loved her Sunday school class.  She was a true advocate for foreign missions, having traveled to Africa on missions' trips.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday September 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Askewville Baptist Church.  Rev. Zach Hicks will officiate.  A burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughters and one son, Carol Mizelle of Colerain; Judy White and husband, William; Robert L. Mizelle, Jr and wife Lisa all of Windsor; sisters, Mary Felton of Ahoskie, Edna Baker and Shirley Matthews of Windsor; brothers, Henry Matthews, Jr., Bobby Matthews and Jimmy Matthews all of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Leslie Barefoot (Brandon), James White (Kayla), Wesley White (Tiffany), Blake Mizelle (Melissa), and Trevor Mizelle; great grandchildren, Madison, Landen, Noah and  Parker White, Hudson and Harper Barefoot.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday September 14th  at Askewville Baptist Church and at all other times at the home.
