Marcia Annette Speller Peele was born January 18, 1943 to the late Thomas Lloyd "Boone" Speller and Annie Ruth Moore Speller and died at age 81 on Thursday, October 24, 2024.  She was the oldest of three daughters.  She was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Wynne Cahoon. Her sister, Teresa Cushing, of Washington survives.

On January 20, 1961, she married Gordon Slade Peele.  Three daughters were born to the loving home and marriage of more than 50 years: Sherrie Varney (Daryl) of Sims, Terry Roberson and Wendy Moore of Williamston.  Mema had four grandchildren:  Tanner and Leah Moore, Kaylee Varney Webb, Thomas Roberson; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Drake, Griffin, Lillian and Boone.

Mother was first a homemaker, gardener, seamstress, then in 1970 began employment at Hayes School as an assistant to the Principal followed by transitioning in 1974 to Williamston Middle School as the Secretary/Treasurer until retirement in 1999.  Mother was an active member of Macedonia Christian Church.  Mother and Daddy supported their daughters as softball team coaches, she was a girl scout troop leader and grade school mom. Her outpouring of love was ever present as she encouraged and cheered on her daughters and grandchildren throughout countless school, athletic, church and life events.

A floating celebration and fellowship will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Macedonia Christian Church Fellowship Hall.  A private graveside service will be held at Martin Memorial Gardens pastor Greg Webb officiating.
