Luther Daniel Herald Jr., 87, died peacefully in Windsor, NC surrounded by loved ones. Luther was originally from Pikeville, KY (Little Creek). He was predeceased by his parents (Luther Hearld Sr. and Delphia Marie (Blackburn) and oldest son, Lawerence David Herald. In his lifetime he enjoyed motorcycles, his time on the carnival, truck driving all over the country, and leatherwork. As a child he enjoyed running the hills of Eastern KY with his two brothers.

Survivors include 5 children; Scott Herald (MaryBeth) of Lexington, NC, Dawn Price (Phillip) of Elizabeth City, NC; Rebecca Miller of Levelland, TX, Luther Daniel Herald III of Alaska;  Constance Vannoy (Kai) of Spring Hope, NC, 2 brothers; James Herald (Jacqueline) of Hertford, NC, and Lacy Herald of Windsor,NC, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grand kids, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in the chapel of Walker Funeral Home, Windsor. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the same location. A private burial will be held at a later date.
