Dateline: Windsor
Lottie Ruth "Sis" Hoggard Jernigan, 80, of Windsor left this earthly home on Thursday March 27, 2025 to go to her Heavenly Home. "Sis" was born to James Otis Hoggard and Lottie Lelia White Hoggard on June 17, 1944. She was raised in Askewville and went to Askewville Baptist Church until meeting the love of her life, Billy Frank Jernigan. At the age of 16, on her birthday, Sis & Billy tied the knot and started their journey in life together at Bethel Assembly of God.
"Sis" taught Sunday school for many years. She also worked at BACA from its opening in 1980 for many years. For 30 years, she decorated the church by putting up the Christmas tree and other decorations. One of her favorite things was spending time with Billy and their three daughters Angie, Regina and Krista. Sis and Billy did everything together, from gardening, yard work and they even built their home together. The love she had for her family and home showed in the work she put in her yard and flowers. She was always busy outside in the yard. Billy and Sis loved to go and do everything together. They went on many vacations and trips including Canada, Mexico and all over the US. You rarely saw one without the other.
She was loved by everyone that she ever met and will be missed.
"Sis" is preceded in death by both of her parents James Otis & Lottie Hoggard, her two sisters Joyce Shook & Jean Hoggard and her two brothers Jim Hoggard & Bill Hoggard. She will also be joining her beloved daughter Angie Jernigan.
"Sis" is survived by her loving and immensely devoted husband Billy Frank Jernigan of 64 years. Two daughters Krista Jernigan of Home, Regina Griffin (Rick) of Greenville, NC, and Son-in-law CB Jernigan of Tyner. She had seven Grandchildren: Carrie Seufer (Michael) of Elizabeth City, Brandon Jernigan (Brooklyn) of Windsor, Joshua Griffin (Chris) of Greenville, Jessica Griffin of Raleigh, Shannon Tatem (Matthew) of Jarvisburg, Will Jernigan of Tyner, Frank Jernigan of Grandy, along with four Great Grandchildren: Michelle Jernigan, Alex Seufer, Laycee Tatem and Mia Deweese and the family dog George.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Bethel Assembly of God in Askewville, with Pastor Randy Pierce officiating and Pastor Webb Hoggard assisting.
