Dateline: Williamston

Lizzie Marie Baker Taylor Rawls, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 28, 2024, at the Williamston House, Assisted Living Facility.  A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday May 31, 2024, at Walker Funeral Home with pastor Roger Leggett officiating. A burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery. Dylan Goff, Frank Hardison, J.C. Denton, Dustin Denton, Shane Denton, and Isiah Taylor will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ms. Rawls was born in Martin County, on October 26, 1941, to the late Margaret Winfred Reason Baker and Wesley Edward Baker. She attended Oak City High School and later attended Edgecombe Community College, where she received her nursing degree. She was a loving nurse who retired after 33 years with Martin General Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three husbands, Tommy Taylor, Leamon Whitaker, and the latest Wilton Prichard Rawls; one son, Leroy Edward Taylor; three brothers; four grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, William Tommy Taylor (Addie) of Williamston; daughters, Susan Hyatt (Robert) of Williamston, Deborah Mauldin of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lisa Thomas of South Boston, VA, Mary Hardison (Frankie) of Williamston and Angela Street (Jason) of Greenville; sisters, Alice Peaks of Williamston, Frances Moore of Tarboro, Doris Bland of Greenville, Rachel Harris of Robersonville; grandchildren, Suzanne Goff (Walt), Stephanie Hyatt, Michael Hyatt (Lidia), Amanda Wilson, Amber Leggett, Frank Hardison, Isiah Taylor, Isabel Taylor, J.C. Denton, Dustin Denton (Harley), Shane Denton (Alexis), Jimmy Street (Courtney), Neya Jade Street (Thomas), Lyla Street, Ava Lynn Street; 18 great-granddaughters and 19 great great-grandchildren.

Lizzie was involved in her church at Second Chance Ministries where her son William Tommy Taylor pastors. Outside of serving at the church she loved gardening and sewing.
