Linwood O'Neal "Neal" Smith, 58 of Mizelle Lane, died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at ECU Health Medical Center.

Neal was born on May 29, 1964 in Bertie County to Otis Linwood Smith and the late Ode Faye Hoggard Smith. He was a 1982 graduate of Bertie High School. Neal purchased East Coast Logging in 2007 and operated it until his death. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play softball, he loved his wife. He enjoyed fishing and loved to hunt as long as he was able.

Survivors include; wife, Leisha Cullipher Smith of the home; father, Otis Linwood Smith of Askewville; daughters, Crystal Dawn Etheridge (Kyle Etheridge) of Askewville and Brittany Anne Smith (Andy McKeel) of Williamston; brother, Ricky Nelson Smith of Askewville; grandchildren, Bryson Rawls, Rylah Etheridge, Aniyah Etheridge and Arabella Etheridge; niece, Twink Smith; nephew, Nelson Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Askewville Assembly of God with Rev. Allen Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mizelle-Bryant Family Cemetery on White Oak Road.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at the funeral home, and other times from the home.
