Obituary

Linda White Harden was welcomed into her eternal home to be with Jesus on January 3rd, 2024.

She was born November 30, 1929 to Jesse Walton White and Lillie Mae Williams in Merry Hill.

She lived her entire life right here in Bertie County where she was a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was the Matriarch of a large extended family and took that role with great pride and fulfilled the role even to the last days of her life. She was happy, joyful and had a great curiosity to know all about you and how you were connected to everyone. Her mind was so remarkable and we were always amazed how she remembered so many things from the present and past. She has left a great legacy for all of our family and those that knew her.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of Lawrence Baptist Church. She served as President of the WMU for many years and was still serving as Treasurer. She served many years as a Sunday School Teacher.

From her marriage four children were born; Vicky Willis of Merry Hill, Sheryl Vick (Alton) of Tarboro, Charles Harden (Joyce) of Windsor and Penny Rasberry  of Greenville.

She was so proud of her Grandchildren who all called her "Mama"; Allison Morris(Jason) of Merry Hill; Jeff Willis of Merry Hill, Abbigail Felton (Jeff) of High Point, Meghan Roy (Patrick) of Fort Cavazos, TX, Bobby Rasberry of Greenville, Jessie Shelton(Cameron), of Winterville, Samantha Harris (Jimmy) of Greenville, Charles Carter Harden (Allie) of Windsor.

Her Great- Grandchildren changed her name to "Big Mama" and what a joy they were. Saylor Willis, Grayson O'Neil, Weston Roy, Madeline Roy, Samuel Shelton, Levi Shelton, Isaac Shelton, Cooper Felton, Shepard Felton, Briley Jean Harden, Lydia Harris and Kinley Harris.

Her surviving siblings whom she was so close to are Gene White of Raleigh, Thomas White of Merry Hill and Carole Hopkins of Newport News.  She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends and all held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Samuel (Drake) Harden. Her Brother David White of Newport News, her Son-In-Law Bert Willis of Merry Hill.

Visitation will be held at Lawrence Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday, January 7th from 1:30 pm to 2:45pm. Pastor Scott Bauer will follow with a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm in the Church sanctuary.

Interment to follow at Edgewood Cemetery
