Obituary

Lila Lilley Everett, 63, of Bath, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Her death was
very unexpected, but she was deeply loved and surrounded by her family at the time of her
passing. She was born on March 4, 1960 in Washington, NC to the late William Holmes Lilley I and Lila
Gray Everette.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Rumley Everett I. They were married
on August 31, 1980 and were looking forward to celebrating 43 years of marriage this year. She
was very proud and thankful to be his wife, and knew she was deeply loved by him. She is also
survived by her three children, Laura Everett Respass (Matt), Rumley Everett (Crystal) and
William Everett (Ashley), and 8 grandchildren whom she loved fiercely: Ava Poole, Alston Poole,
Allie Respass, Taylor Respass, Brailey Everett, Tripp Everett, and Makenzie Everett. She is
walking all over heaven now with another granddaughter, Lilly Faith Everett.

Lila was a devoted wife, mother and Granny. Anyone that knew her knew that her husband,
children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She taught her grandchildren unique
talents such as crocheting, playing the piano and cooking her famous cheese biscuits. She
made sure her babies knew and used their manners, which was much appreciated by her
children. She had a faith that ran far deeper and wider than Bath Creek, which was her second
home. You could find her on any sunny day rocking in her chair on the porch or helping her kids
and grandkids catch a fish or empty a crab pot.

Along with helping Gilbert build his contractor business, Lila found joy in raising Golden
Retriever puppies and finding them loving homes. She also established Blanket Blessings for
Hospice, which assisted local hospice patients through monthly donations.

Per her wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Ripe for Harvest World Outreach, PO Box 62009, Colorado Springs, CO,
80962-2009. Ripe for Harvest is a faith-based mission organization. Her cousin, Evangelist
Hiland Overgaard, introduced her to this organization which became near and dear to her heart.
Her family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that is being shown to them
during this difficult time.

If Lila could give you any advice, she would say, love God, family
and your puppies with all you have, don't wait to use your fine china and go fishing every
chance you get!
