Lessie Janette Corey Carman, 80 of Faith Lane, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Windsor House.

Lessie was born on November 13, 1941, in Martin County, to the late Rufus Lee and Mae Bell Modlin Corey. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Having been married to a disabled veteran, Miss Lessie became committed to veteran's issues and was a strong supporter of Law Enforcement and other emergency services organizations. She was also an advocate for children's issues. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carman, grandchildren, Eric and Matthew Carman, and great grandchild Oliver Johnson.

Survivors include; sons, Ed Carman of Williamston and Donald Carman, Jr. of Jamesville; daughter, Maria Carman Small of Lenoir; brother, Rufus Edwin Corey of Williamston; sister, Mary Lee Reason of Jamesville; grandchildren, Christian Carman, Donnie Carman, Carman Pennell, Courtney Cox, and Brooke Wilcox; great grandchildren, Eric, Riley, Connor and Kynlee Carman and Hermione and Adrianna DeOca, Waylon Small.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Tice Cemetery, with Pastor Joey Brickhouse officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to any Veteran, Children or Law Enforcement organization.
