Larry Jennings Lawrence, 74, of Old US 17 N, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at ECU Health Bertie Hospital. Larry was born on January 22nd, 1949, in Windsor, NC to the late William Jennings Lawrence and Iva Mae Dunlow.

Larry loved his Greens Cross community where he was born and raised. He took pride in serving his county for many years as the County Forest Ranger for the NC Forestry Service. He also had a passion for taking care of the family farm where he raised many crops, planted many gardens, and cultivated many food plots for his sons. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. He was also a member of Greens Cross Baptist Church and an honorary lifetime member of Bucklesberry Hunting Club in Windsor.

Survivors include his sons, Will (Melissa) Lawrence and Chris (Heather) Lawrence; sister, Debbie (Jerry) Castelloe; grandchildren, Paxton, Rachel, and Gemma; niece, Jessica (Brian) Jones; nephew, Charles Castelloe; great-nephew, Dylan Mizelle; and great-niece, Haley Jones.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Greens Cross Baptist Church. Visitation will occur at 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Will & Melissa Lawrence, 108 N. Wheeler Dr., Merry Hill, NC 27957.
