Mr. Larry Wayne Council, age 77, a resident of Garrett Road, Williamston, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026 at ECU Health Hospice House.

Larry was born November 19,1948 in Martin County, NC to Jesse A. Council and Frances Bennett Council. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jimmie and Arthur Council.

He is survived by Debra Council (wife) son, Dwayne Council and his (4) children (Kristin, Jessica, Brandon and Juliana) and son, Randy Council and his daughter, Hilary, daughter, Ronda Stroup (son-in-law, Scotty Stroup and their (2) daughters, Skylar and Kylie) and daughter, Tracy Smith (son-in-Law, Matt Smith and their 2 daughters Leah and Olivia), and his (2) sisters Diane White and Evelyn Biggs.

Larry Council truly was a talented man. He took pride in hard work and built a business doing what he loved. His interest in automobiles extended beyond repairing engines or painting cars; he also built stock cars to race at various short tracks across North Carolina and for many years drove at Daytona in the Goody's Dash Series.

He was deeply passionate about music, talented at singing and the guitar. He regularly hosted karaoke nights to share his love of music with friends, family, and customers. But more than anything, he loved using his musical gifts in service of the Lord by singing at church.

He loved classic monster movies, such as The Mummy, The Wolf Man, and his favorite, The Creature from the Black Lagoon. He often crafted his own costumes and props for participation in the Frightmore Academy haunted house, as well as for family gatherings and special occasions.

His greatest joy and highest priority were family. He took great pride in raising his four children alongside his beloved wife, Debra. He valued spending quality time with his children and extended family, whether by hosting annual Christmas parties, riding motorcycles, attending his grandchildren's ballgames, or hanging around the pool each summer.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church in Williamston burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Scotty Stroup, Justin Harrison, Andy Beacham, Kenneth Warren, Ryan Smith, and Doug Baker. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church and other times at the home.
