Retired First Sergeant Judie "J. E." Bowen, Jr. of Tennyson Lane, passed away December 11, 2022, at ECU Bertie Hospital. He was born March 22, 1942 in Windsor, NC to the late Judie E. and Fannie Dunlow Bowen and was predeceased by sisters, Bessie B. Byrum and Sue Jones; brothers, Rodney Bowen and Freddie Bowen. J.E. was a member of Masonic Lodge and Edgewood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He was retired as First Sergeant in the NC Highway Patrol.

Funeral services will be held Friday December 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cashie Baptist Church by his minister, Dr. Chris Lee. Burial with Highway Patrol Honors will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday December 15, 2022 at Walker Funeral Home from 6-8:30 PM.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Harrison Bowen of the home; daughter, Linda Bowen Smith and fiance, Donald of Newton, NC; son, Raleigh Elwood Bowen and wife, Renee' of Windsor; brother, Dannie Bowen and wife, Brenda of Windsor; grandchildren, Brent Bowen and wife, Katie, and Brook Bowen all of Windsor, Peyton Smith and Harrison Smith both of Newton, NC.
