Joyce Diane Whaley Roberson, 73 of Ballard Rd., died Monday, September 19, 2022, at her home.

Joyce was born on November 4, 1948, in Onslow County, to the late Hubert and Mary Lee Dixon Whaley. She had retired as a seamstress having worked at Southern Apparel. Joyce had also worked at West Point Pepperell and Agape Clinic. She loved to go out and eat especially at the Shamrock Restaurant. Joyce was an avid crocheter, enjoyed word puzzles, collector of blue/white ceramics and loved her family. She was preceded in death by brothers, Hubert Lee and Kenneth Whaley; sisters, Irene Mills and Barbara Woolard.

Survivors include her husband, Russell "Buster" Roberson of the home; daughter, Jeannette Steward (Chuck) of Williamston; son, Dexter Whaley (Janet) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Marlena Whaley of Tarboro; grandchildren, Tyler, Dalton and Connor Whaley, Trevor and Katelyn Steward; great grandchildren, Ashton and Madison Whaley, Spencer and Josiah Steward.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Martin Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dennis Barber officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and other times at 11091 US Hwy 17, Williamston.
