Joyce Peaks Deans 79, of 103 Ayers Street, and a resident of Roanoke-River Nursing Home died Sunday, October 21, 2018.  She was born December 29, 1938 in Martin County to the late Vervin "Sol" and Emma Clark Peaks.  Joyce was a member of Everetts Christian Church and a retired grocery clerk.  She was an avid Dale Earnhardt # 3 fan as well as an avid fisherwoman.  After retirement she spent many hours caring for and loving her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Walker Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Jason Braswell will officiate.  Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Deans of the home; daughter, Kim White and husband, Bobby of Williamston; brother, John Peaks of Sandston, VA; grandchildren, Jason White (Jane Ashley), Joshua White (Liz) all of Williamston, Jenna O'Dell (Tyler) of Pantego; great grandchildren, Jacob and Bryson White; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 23, 2018 from 6-7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and from the home of Kim and Bobby White, 1075 Ranch Motel Road at other times.  Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive #8, Greenville NC 27834.
