Joseph Richard Ward, 74 of Chapman Rd., died Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home.

Richard was born on July 15, 1946 in Bertie County to the late Jesse Jordan and Rosa Lee Davenport Ward. He was retired as a roaster operator. Richard coached farm league and little league baseball and was member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hamilton. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Jesse and Randolph Ward.

Survivors include; wife of 46 years, Eunice Fay West Ward of the home; daughters, Natalie Baugham of Windsor, Julia Harrison and husband Kelvin of Deep Run and Beverly Sullivan and husband Jamie of Robersonville; son, Joseph Richard "Ricky" Ward of Robersonville and wife Maggie; sisters, Barbara Reed of Whitakers and Ellen Bell of Windsor; brother, Cola Ward of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Jenna Baugham, Kirstien Ward, Wade Baugham, Dakota Harrison, Macy Ward, David Baugham, Cheyenne Harrison, Logan Sullivan, Wyatt Sullivan, Nadia Ward and Nathan Ward; great grandchildren, Gracie Ayers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home and other times from the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Church, 13756 NC 125 Oak City, Nc 27857.
