Joseph "Shine" Raleigh Hoggard,90, of Bull Hill Road, died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Edenton House.  He was born in Bertie County, August 20, 1929 to the late Roy Thomas and Bessie Miller Hoggard and was predeceased by a son, Joey Hoggard; sisters, Audrey Todd and Lou Evie Castello; brother, Stanley Hoggard.  "Shine" was a lifelong member of Ross Baptist Church where he served in many positions; Deacon, music director for 45 years, Sunday school teacher and choir member.  He, along with his brother, owned Technicrafts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Ross Baptist Church.  Rev. Dr. Jeffery Russell will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Mae Jernigan Hoggard; daughter, Patricia Hoggard Collis and husband Jerry of Merry Hill; son Paul Hoggard and wife, Cathy of Edenton; brothers, Basil and Larry Hoggard of Windsor; sister, Verlie H. Farless of Colerain; grandchildren, Brian Collis, Luke Hoggard, Landen Hoggard and Errol.

The family will receive friends Friday January 24 ^th from 6-7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and from the home of Patricia and Jerry Collis,106 Eden Lane, Merry Hill at other times.  Memorial gifts may be made to Ross Baptist Church, 1020 Bull Hill Road, Windsor, NC 27983.
