Joseph Bray Jackson, Sr. "Big Joe", 78, of Batchelor Bay Drive, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, July 28, 2023. Joe was born in Windsor, NC on September 20, 1944, to the late Charles Ludford and Mary Virginia Holder Jackson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Jean Jackson and brothers, Charles Holder Jackson "Charlie Boy" and William Walker Jackson "Billy."

Joe was the President of Jackson Concrete Construction, Inc. He served his country in the National Guard and was actively involved in and supported the Windsor Fire Department. Whenever Joe knew of a need in the community, he went above and beyond to help. The Town of Windsor presented Joe with The Hurricane Floyd Volunteer Award and one of his passions was Toys for Tots.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Chapel in Windsor. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Close friend, Lou Lyon Craig will officiate.

Survivors include his son, Joseph Bray Jackson, Jr., "Little Joe" and wife, Bonnie of Winterville; daughter, Virginia Marie Jackson, "Ginny" of Harker's Island; longtime companion, Shirley Leggett Nash; grandchildren, Savanna Kailee Jordan Jackson, Joseph Bray Jackson, III and William Garris Crawford Jackson; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Guffy Jackson of High Point; niece, Rebecca Jackson Aydelette and husband Phillip of Oak Ridge and their children.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Walker Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and from the home at other times. Memorial gifts may be given to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, 501 North King Street, Windsor, NC 27983.
