Mr Fagan was born October 9, 1953 in Martin County to the late Julian Hosea and Neda Johnson Fagan. He was a graduate of Jamesville High School. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked in the logging business and was a farmer. He loved spending time on the family farm in Martin County. Besides his parents Joe was preceded in death by his sisters Penny Fagan and Pamela Fagan Hodges.

Survivors include: Brother Jerry Fagan of Plymouth NC, brother in law Steve Hodges of Como NC, nephew Timothy Hodges and wife Christy of Como NC, 3 nieces Rebecca Fagan of Swansboro NC, Jennifer Bowen of Plymouth NC, Hannah Johnson and husband Bryan of Margarettsville NC. Great nieces: Holly Craddock, Taylor Craddock, Leah Bowen, Sara Hodges, Emma Bowen, Mia Johnson, Swazye Jayne, Great nephews: Zach Hodges, Reid and Blake Johnson
