Joseph "J. C." Charles Simmons, Sr.  77 a resident of Creekside Care in Ahoskie, died Wednesday July 15, 2020.  J. C. was born in Bertie County August 1, 1942 to the late Joseph Benjamin and Annie Farmer Simmons and was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Diane Simmons; brothers, James and Benjamin Simmons.  He was a long-distance truck driver.  He was an avid drag racing fan and loved motorcycles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 18, 2020 at the Walker Funeral Chapel.  His son, Rev. Charles Simmons will officiate.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela S. Bridges and husband Ricky; son, Rev. Charles Simmons; sisters, Carol S. Thames all of Windsor;        Barbara S. Pope of Roanoke-Rapids and Sheila Shingleton of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Tori, Justin and Savannah Simmons and Jeana Socha; two great grandchildren and his former wife of 40 years, Wilma Thomas.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 18 ^th from 1-2:00 PM before the service at Walker Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas TX, 75289.
