Joseph "Joe" Malcolm Browne, Jr. passed away on Friday, March 1, 2023 at the age of 75 at his home in Frances Mill, NC.  Joe was the son of the late J. Malcolm Browne and Mary Poole Browne.

He is survived by his partner Marites Ramento; his son, Joseph M. "Sonny" Browne, III (Joseph); daughter Johnna Browne Lewis (Willard); grandson Logan H. P. Chapman (Mikayla) and Robert E. M. Chapman; and Marite's daughter Priya Carol Ramento.

Raised in Roxobel, NC, Joe was a graduate of Bertie High School and East Carolina University.  Joe was a teacher for several local school systems including Bertie, Hertford, and Northampton Counties.

Joe was like a walking encyclopedia and loved history.  He enjoyed reading new books and learning other languages.

The memorial service has been postponed due to sickness.
